Now, I should preface this review by stating out front that I generally like the breakfast offerings at McDonald's even though I'm not a big fan of any of the other menu items. So I got one this morning to see what all the hoopla is about. McDonald's obviously thinks they're the bestest breakfast sandwich ever invented. I don't think anyone in North America can spend more than ten minutes with a television or radio broadcast without hearing an advertisement for the damn things. Talia's Kitchen: Sweet Heat Fried Chicken Biscuit McDonald's has this new breakfast sandwich! Have you heard about it? It's called the Southern Style Chicken Biscuit! Plunk a little pimento cheese onto each biscuit half to hold your toppings in place, top with your candied bacon and fried chicken, and enjoy with a glass of ice-cold sweet tea! The more mix, the better! So crack those eggs into a bowl, whip 'em up, and then dip your tenders in before tossing them back into the mix for a second coat! Deep fry in oil for 4-6 minutes, depending on how big they are, and then carefully remove and set on a couple paper towels to soak up the oil.Ĭut your nonjudged biscuits in half and your bacon into thirds. Pour your House-Autry Spicy Chicken Mix into a large bowl and coat the chicken by rolling tenders on all sides until well-covered. (If you don't have a deep fryer, you can use a dutch oven with an oil thermometer.) I cut my tenders in half for optimal biscuit coverage, so they fry quickly. We'll cut them later so they fit on the biscuits.įill your deep fryer with peanut oil and preheat it to 350 degrees. Lay the strips sticky side up on a plate, or another piece of wax paper, to cool. Use tongs to carefully lift each strip and allow the excess caramelized sugar to drip off onto the foil. It may not look as "done" as it does coming from the stovetop, but it'll darken as it cools and this type tastes better chewy than too crispy. Bake for approximately 20-25 minutes, longer for thick-cut pieces. I like to lay the strips out on wax paper first to coat the tops with brown sugar before transferring to the foil so I don't end up with too much of a melted sugar mess in the pan. The bacon can be pretty forgiving as long as you keep an eye on it. If your biscuits need to be at 375, then that works too. You know what to do.Ĭover a baking pan in aluminum foil (super easy clean up) and preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Are you drooling yet? Well, let's get cookin'!īest part about this is that you can throw the biscuits and bacon in the oven at the same time and then move on!ĭo you know how to make biscuits from scratch? Amazing! Do you prefer boxed mix? Great! Do you already have a can in the fridge? We won't judge. This little biscuit covers all your bases! What's not to love? A fluffy buttery biscuit, topped by crispy chicken tenders with the perfect amount of heat, harmoniously paired with creamy pimento cheese - and the bacon is just sugar on top. So then I eat something sweet and end up back at salty. I often find myself indulging in a salty snack, only to be left craving something sweet. You could even prepare a couple of the "puzzle pieces" in advance, so when you do have that free moment, you just stack this beauty up and enjoy! The mix ensures this recipe is quick and easy, plus the whole family loves it, and I'd argue you could eat it for any meal of the day. Between work and kids, sometimes I'm just too tired or busy to throw the perfect Southern meal together - which is why I am glad to have found House-Autry's Spicy Chicken Mix. Southern food tastes like comfort, love and home.
